So now we are in full swing of the season. We have had a few warm days, 2 days of really baltic weather (minus 34 with wind chill with winds up to 70kmph), and everything in between.

My Aussie kids I was teaching in the two really baltic days really didn’t like skiing in those temperatures so there were lots of breaks required to go inside to warm up and also drink hot chocolates.

Some crazy fool didn’t think it was cold!!

Wtf! It was about minus 18 degrees C!!!

This last week had been really windy making it crazily cold and often the higher chairlifts have been closed. This morning we woke up to this…

We had to dig 2 of these out to go to work

Everyone got stuck in today. Our lovely little elderly neighbour, Hiroshi, comes out to help us and this morning was out for over an hour and a half clearing snow. I didn’t want to be the first to say I needed a break (my student cancelled their lesson today) but he beat me 🀣

We have been to most of the drinking establishments in Furano, including a couple of karaoke bars where you pay for an hour and a half at a time and drink all you want in that time.Β  I don’t think the Japanese quite get as good value from that fixed price as the Europeans, Kiwis and Aussies !!!

A few weeks ago, we went to a Fondue place up on the hill overlooking Furano for Jane’s birthday.

We have just got our first utility bills for the month of December.Β  Β£70 for the month doesn’t seem too bad, although we have no idea if that is a lot for an apartment here in Japan or not. It may be more next month now we’ve cranked up the heating to help cope with this cold wind. Also, a few bits of cardboard stuffed around the windows as draft excluders has been added.

The snow banks get a little large at the side of the roads

There are some things that you never tire of in Japan – we love their cute way of approaching life.

This morning I nearly threw away the flyer in the post box as it was covered in little rabbits and cartoons – then used Google translate to realise it was from the Electricity Company to explain how you had to register for a new online payment system πŸ™ƒ
