So in the small world that is ski instructing, 2 Japanese colleagues from last season at Club Med are in furano teaching for a different ski school !! We bumped into them on our 2nd day ! Not knowing they were in Furano….
Anyway, we’ve been threatening to meet up for dinner or to ride, but we’ve all been busy.
So we made a firm effort to find a mutual day off, booked a rental car and in the end decided to drive to Sahoro to see friends from last season who have gone back to Club Med to work ( mad fools 🙃 )
Honestly, it was so good to meet everyone but there was a weird sense of foreboding as we stepped over the hotel threshold !!! PTSD ?? 🙈🙃
Anyway, we got changed and went off to the gondola for some laps and the conditions were EPIC ❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️ probably the best JaPow day that we have free ridden in Sahoro.
Charlie, Yuko and Craig were on a day off so joined us for several runs and then at lunchtime we were joined by Heather, Aya, Tom v, James & Shana. Sadly others had to work lunch to setup the weekly race course.
Those runs were so much fun 😎
Then, after they went back Hitomi & Ryuya wanted to stay on groomers to practice for their upcoming exams, so we sneaked in a few more powder laps and the 10 min hike to powder heaven for one of our laps 🥰🥰❄️😋
We also saw some amazing Japanese teaching when we got out of the top of the gondola !!! Who would take people up there, knowing they weren’t ready and then make them slide down the MIDDLE of the piste to get to the more mellow zig zag piste 🤔🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️🙈🙈🙈
The drive home was slower as there was quite a storm but made it home with only 1 Tokyo drift moment !!
Demolished a mountain of food ready for work the next day 😊😋
